Smile, Metric Style!

By Clay Dollar
Mrs. Dollar's 6th Grade Math really measures up!!! Lately the 6th Grade Math classes have been learning about systems of measurement and the metric system especially. In the pictures you can see the students measuring the length of each others' smiles using a metric ruler. All of the measurements are added together, converted to larger units, and drawn as one large smile representing to total of all the classes smiles together!!! Turns out this is a pretty cool way to turn those frowns (about math and the metric system) upside down!!!

DHS Senior to Play College Softball

It was an exciting morning at DeWitt High School when one of our very own seniors signed with Williams Baptist to play college softball. An All-State player in 2007-08 and 2008-09, she will join the Eagles at first base.

Coach Eric Newell of Williams Baptist expressed his pleasure in signing not only an excellent softball player but also a well-rounded individual to the team. Softball Coaches Peeks and Walls and former Coach Mark Dardenne, the DHS softball team, family, friends, and faculty attended the official signing in the DHS library Wednesday morning, February 24. Everyone enjoyed delicious "congratulations" cake afterwards.

We're very proud of you and wish you the best!
